My name is Kayla Yocum, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Principal of Washington District Elementary School. As the new year quickly approaches, I am excited for the wonderful journey that lies ahead. Our school is a community of enthusiastic learners, passionate educators, and supportive families and community members. Together, we make a difference and create a nurturing environment that allows everyone to thrive.
As a young student, I attended Washington District Elementary School, where I found my calling to become an educator. This is my tenth year serving in Upshur County Schools, where my love for education continues to grow. It is my hope and dream to influence and empower others to perform to their fullest potential, while inspiring and motivating everyone to make a positive difference in our world.
To our students, I hope you are excited about a new year of learning and fun. I can’t wait to see all that you accomplish.
To our families, I appreciate your involvement in your child’s education. Together, we create a strong support system that allows students to reach their goals.
To our community, thank you for the impact you have had on my life. It inspires me to give back to what I know as home.
